Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
